How erection rings are worn
How to Wear an Erection Ring
Published by FirmTech · Last updated
To wear a FirmTech erection ring, open the loop, set one loop under the testicles and one around the base of the penis, then adjust the strap until it is snug.
The FirmTech Ring Fit Guide covers all three FirmTech rings here, because they share the same peno-scrotal shape and hook-and-loop strap. It goes on in seconds while soft, should feel snug but never painful, and comes off by opening the latch.
How do you put on an erection ring?
Put it on while soft, ahead of time if you like. These are FirmTech's own three steps.

Open the loop
Unhook the latch, hold the loop open and drop the testicles through it.
Set both loops
One loop now sits under the testicles and the other around the base of the penis.
Fine-tune the fit
Adjust the strap for comfort. Snug enough to hold, never tight enough to hurt.

How tight should an erection ring be?
Snug, not tight. FirmTech's patented hook-and-loop fit lets you set firm pressure without squeezing. If you feel pain, numbness or coldness, open the latch and loosen it, which is good practice with any constriction ring.
Tension, by ring
FirmTech rates tightness on a five-point scale. The TechRing is 3 of 5 (secure) and the Performance Ring is 3 of 5 (comfort). The MaxPR is 5 of 5, the tightest, because it is slimmer and snugger with the same shape. If the MaxPR feels like too much, the Performance Ring is the same design with less pressure. Your measured girth matters too: below the 5.5 inch limit, you simply close the strap further. See the how to measure page to confirm your size.
How long can you wear each ring?
| Ring | Safe wear time | Overnight |
|---|---|---|
| TechRing | Up to 12 hours | Yes, designed and studied for overnight wear |
| Performance Ring | Up to 12 hours | Ask FirmTech before sleeping in it |
| MaxPR | Up to 90 minutes | No |

Lube, cleaning and care
Use water-based or silicone-based lubricants only. FirmTech warns against natural oils such as coconut or CBD oil with every ring. After each use, rinse with warm water and mild soap and wipe dry. The Performance Ring and MaxPR are water resistant; the TechRing is splashproof, so rinse rather than soak it. TechRing sleeves should be replaced about every 30 nights, from $15.
On in seconds, off in one move.
Pick the FirmTech ring that matches how you want to wear it.
Wearing questions
How do you put on an erection ring?
Open the loop and drop the testicles through it, so one loop sits under the testicles and the other around the base of the penis, then adjust for comfort. FirmTech says it takes a few seconds. The How to wear page in this guide walks through each step and the wear limits for each ring. More in the FAQ
Can I put the ring on before I have an erection?
Yes. FirmTech rings are designed to go on when you are soft, so you can put one on discreetly ahead of time. The hook-and-loop strap lets you adjust the tension once it is in place, and there is nothing to take beforehand and no planning ahead. More in the FAQ
How long can you wear an ED ring?
It depends on the ring. FirmTech states the TechRing and Performance Ring are safe to wear for up to 12 hours, and the TechRing is designed to be worn overnight. The MaxPR, the tightest ring, is limited to 90 minutes at a time. Never go past the stated wear time for your model. More in the FAQ
Does an ED ring block ejaculation?
No. FirmTech says its rings keep blood in without blocking release, so ejaculation is not restricted. The rings work the same solo or with a partner. FirmTech describes the MaxPR, its tightest ring, as giving heightened sensation and a more intense finish. More in the FAQ
What lubricant can I use with an ED ring?
Use water-based or silicone-based lubricants with FirmTech rings. Do not use natural oils such as coconut oil or CBD oil, which FirmTech warns against for every ring it sells. FirmTech also sells Sliquid Naturals Silver, a silicone lubricant, from $18. More in the FAQ
How do I clean an ED ring?
Rinse the ring with warm water and mild soap after each use and wipe it dry. The Performance Ring and MaxPR are water resistant, and the TechRing is splashproof. TechRing sleeves should be replaced about every 30 nights, and replacement sleeves start at $15. More in the FAQ
